ECtHR Grand Chamber Reversed Judgment in the Case of J.K. and Others v. Sweden

On August 23, 2016, the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights (Court) delivered a final judgment in the case of J.K. and Others v. Sweden (application no. 59166/12). The Court held, by ten votes to seven, that there would be a violation of Article 3 (prohibition of torture and inhuman or degrading treatment) of the European Convention on Human Rights if the order for the applicants’ deportation to Iraq were implemented.
