Abstract:

In a statement to the world, China, the world’s biggest consumer of illegal ivory, crushed six tons of ivory tusks and carved ornaments in public on January 6, 2014.[2] The event signaled China’s commitment to do more to join global efforts to protect African elephants from the rampant poaching that is threatening to eliminate the species.
