Abstract:
Cornelius Gurlitt, the ascetic German who turned the art world on its head when he revealed a huge collection of 19th and 20th century famous European works that had been hidden for decades, died at the age of 81 on May 13, 2014. The collection was amassed by his father, Hildebrand Gurlitt, who was one of just four art dealers allowed under the Nazi regime to buy and sell modern art.[2]
