Abstract:
On July 3, 2002, the Danish Minister of Justice Lene Espersen outlined the work program of the Danish Presidency of the European Union in the field of police cooperation and judicial cooperation in criminal matters. Ms. Espersen said the Danish Government will present ?an ambitious, yet realistic program? with respect to police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters. To provide a safe place to live, the Danish Presidency will work to ensure the security of the European citizens in everyday life. Freedom, security and justice presuppose an efficient prevention and combating of transnational crime on the basis of the rule of law and appropriate measures to protect the fundamental rights of European citizens.
