Abstract:
As pressure builds in the United States for proper enforcement and retaliation of violators of fish-net rules, the Japanese Fisheries Association is threatening retaliation if the United States Government takes “unjustified” action to ban fish products from japan next year because of the use of driftnetting by Japanese fishermen. The threats have made the issue of validity of the practice and the proper enforcement against driftnetting into an increasingly controversial matter.
