Conference on Inter-American Human Rights System Dissects Velasquez (Disappearance) Case and Examines Role of Inter-American Conference

On October 28, 1988 the second conference on the Inter-American Human Rights System was held at the American University in Washington.  The conference dealt with the first exercise of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights' (hereafter the "Court") compulsory jurisdiction in the far-reaching opinion of the Velasquez case.
