Abstract:
On January 6, 2017, the Chinese government announced plans to suspend the legal commercial trade of ivory within China by the end of 2017. The announcement follows a joint commitment by China and the United States in 2015 to enact “nearly complete bans on ivory import and export… and to take significant and timely steps to halt the domestic commercial trade of ivory.”
