Chamchi Obtains Refugee Status in Canada

A ruling by Judge Sweet to deny a habeas corpus petition filed on behalf of Mr. Charmchi has become moot due to the actions of Charmchi's counsel, Nelson Brill.  Fearing that Charmchi would in fact be deported and subsequent to an interview conducted at the Iranian Interest Section of the Algerian Embassy in Washington, Brill was able to process Charmchi through the Canadian Consulate in New York City in early December.
