Pinochet Stripped of Immunity--On August 8, 2000, the Chilean Supreme Court ruled to remove Gen. Augusto Pinochet of his senatorial immunity, enabling the Chilean prosecutor to continue his prosecution of him for disappearances and torture during Mr. Pinochet rule.
