Abstract:
In the last five years the international community and especially the organizations responsible for anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financial enforcement have focused attention on the problems of hawala and other remittance systems. Regulatory Frameworks for Hawala and Other Remittance Systems is a collection of essays arising out of the First International Conference on Hawala, organized in May 2002 by the United Arab Emirates. The book includes a collection of essays on regulatory frameworks in remitting and receiving countries and some general articles on the problems that can arise when regulating remittance systems.
