Abstract: 
The Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal was adopted on March 22, 1989 by 104 States and the European Economic Community. To date 54 countries have signed the Convention, including NIgeria who signed on April 11, 1990. To date, Nigeria is the only African nation to sign the Basel Convention.
