Abstract:
On May 21, 1987, the Israel government successfully delayed independent counsel Lawrence E. Walsh's attempt to obtain grand jury testimony and enforcement of its subpoena of David Kimche, formerly a high-level Israeli diplomat who allegedly was an important intermediary in the sale of American arms to Iran.  Mr. Kimche was formerly an intelligence officer and was director general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1985 when he allegedly discussed an arms-for-hostage deal with Iran to White House officials.
