U.S. Appellate Court Upholds Forfeiture of Undeclared Currency

On August 21, 2014, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit upheld a civil forfeiture of $132,245 by a U.S. district court for failure to report currency when crossing the U.S. border in violation of 31 U.S.C. §5316, and for bulk cash smuggling, in violation of 31 U.S.C. § 5332.
