Abstract:
The member states of the Council of Europe and other states ratified on March 21, 1983 the Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons (Convention), which entered into force on July 1, 1985. The aim of the Convention is to develop international cooperation in the field of criminal law, to give sentenced persons the opportunity to serve their sentence within their own society and to thereby further their social rehabilitation.
