New Developments: Treasury Lifts Some Sanctions Against Kuwait Mirroring Action Taken by Canada Earlier this Week; Sanctions Against Iraq Remain

On Friday, March 8, 1991, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control, announced an amendment to the final Kuwaiti Sanctions Regulations. The Amendment to the Regulations authorizes "certain trade, transportation, travel and transfer transactions with respect to Kuwait, in light of the liberation of Kuwait from Iraqi occupation." The official text of the Amendment to the Regulations will be published in the March 11, 1991 Federal Register.
