Abstract:
On May 10, 2002 British Judge Timothy Workman ruled that Abu Doha, also known as Amar Makholif and ?The Doctor?, could be extradited to the United States to stand charges that he conspired to detonate a bomb at Los Angeles International Airport during the millennium celebrations. Judge Workman rejected contentions that ? unprecedented and wholly prejudicial levels of publicity? in the U.S. would deny Doha a fair trial there. Judge Workman also rejected the arguments that the U.S. and British authorities manipulated the extradition process and that the testimony from convicted terrorist Ahmed Ressam was inadequate and unreliable. A group of Algerians is on trial in Germany for conspiring to bomb the market in Strasbourg. Defendants in that case have said that Doha recruited, trained, and funded them.
