On May 8, 2007, U.S. District Court Judge Kathleen Cardone in El Paso, Texas dismissed an indictment against alleged terrorist Luis Posada Carriles and ordered him released. Venezuelan and Cuban officials immediately demanded that Posada be tried in the United States or surrendered to Venezuela, where he is a naturalized citizen.
