Abstract:
On November 16, 2016, the U.S. government returned a former Chinese official wanted on corruption charges to China. Yang Xiuzhu, 70 years old, arrived in Beijing, 13 years after she fled eastern China. Ms. Yang smiled as she disembarked from an American Airlines plane without handcuffs and under the supervision of two policewomen.
