Abstract:
On March 31, 2000, Steve Lucas, spokesman for the U.S. military’s Miami-based Southern Command, announced the U.S. Department of State and the Salvadoran Government concluded an agreement, allowing anti-narcotics flights from El Salvador’s Comalapa International Airport. After the U.S. was unable to obtain an agreement with Costa Rica, the U.S. has resorted to an agreement with El Salvador for the fourth and final staging area for anti-narcotics flights replacing those that formerly operated from Panama.
