On May 30, 2007, a divided U.N. Security Council approved a resolution establishing an international tribunal to prosecute suspects in the assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri. The resolution will create the first U.N.-supported criminal tribunal in the Middle East, raising expectations that Hariri’s killers will be held accountable.
