Abstract:
On May 26, 2007, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York announced that Syed Hashmi, also known as “Fahad,” was successfully transported to New York from the United Kingdom on charges for his dealings with al Qaeda. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, this is the first terrorism-related extradition by the U.K. to the U.S. The Pakistani native is a U.S. citizen who had been living in Britain for the three years prior to his arrest in June 2006.
