Palestine’s Accession to the International Criminal Court Has Numerous Legal and Political Implications

On January 2, 2015, Palestinian Authority (PA) officials presented to the United Nations (U.N.) documents for accession to 16 international conventions and treaties, including the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The documents – for accession to conventions and treaties for which the U.N. Secretary-General performs depositary functions – are being reviewed with a view to determining the appropriate next steps.
