Abstract:
On October 21, 2016, Oslo’s Borgarting Court of Appeal affirmed a lower court ruling that allowed the Government of Norway to extradite Najmaddin Faraj Ahmad, better known as Mullah Krekar, to face terrorism-related charges in Italy. Krekar, 60, is an Iraqi Kurdish jihadist who, in 2001, founded Ansar al-Islam (“Volunteers of Islam”), a U.S. Government-designated terrorist organization.
