Abstract:
On June 1 and 2, 1993, the Judicial Police of Faro, Portugal arrested nine persons next to Olhão in the Algarve, the popular southern Portuguese resort area. The Judicial Police reported that the persons arrested had direct links to the Italian Mafia. The source of hashish was Morocco, indicating a common pattern for illicit drugs consumed in Europe: hashish produced in North Africa and the Near East enters into Iberia and from there is distributed to other countries.
