Abstract:
To recall: Jean-Paul Akayesu, the former mayor of Taba was found guilty by the ICTR of genocide, direct and public incitement to commit genocide and seven different counts of crimes against humanity and sentenced to life imprisonment. Both the prosecutor and the defendant have appealed the decision. The latter seeks an acquittal or at least a re-trial.
