Abstract: 
On December 19, 2005, the International Court of Justice found Uganda liable for international human rights violations in the Congo and ordered it to pay reparations. The five-year war in Congo involved at least six foreign armies and is estimated to have claimed more than three million lives. Many of the deaths ? primarily through disease and hunger ? occurred in the eastern part of the country, where the conflict originated. Congo and Uganda now have to discuss compensation.
