On July 1st, 2013, President Barack Obama was in Tanzania, pledging $10 million in aid to combat wildlife trafficking. In neighboring Kenya that same day, David McNevin, a former defense attaché at the American embassy in Kenya was arraigned on charges of ivory smuggling.[2]
