Abstract:
On May 19, 2004, the European Court of Human Rights issued a judgment holding the Russian Government violated the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms in the prosecution of Russian oligarch Vladimir Aleksandrovich Gusinsky and must pay his legal fees as a result of the violations. In his application Gusinsky alleged his detention on remand was unlawful and arbitrary.
