Abstract: 
On February 17, 2005, the European Commission adopted and sent to the Council and the European Parliament a EU Drugs Action Plan for 2005-2008, whose main goal is to significantly reduce the prevalence of drug use among the EU population and to reduce the social harm and health damage caused in the EU countries by the use of and trade in illegal drugs. The EU has decided on a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to illicit drugs which considers the issue from various aspects: demand reduction, supply reduction, the fight against illicit trafficking and international action.
