Abstract:
The European Union and Europol are about to reach initial agreement on new directions and roles for Europol in combatting crime. On March 23, 1994, the EU Legal Affairs Council met and discussed a wide range of issues from immigration policy to combatting terrorism and designing phone-tapping rules, but no final decisions have been taken. The meeting was essentially a consultation meeting at which some orientations were taken concerning the proposed work agenda.
