Austrians Release U.S. Fugitive on Bail

The 47 year old Weiss, who fled the U.S. during his criminal trial and before the jury started deliberating, avoided detection during his fugitivity by shaving his beard, losing 75 pounds, and buying false identification under the name of “Charles Dick,” a distant family name. He apparently never went into the daylight and never stayed in a country for more than 10 days except Brazil. The release of Weiss on bail is a blow to the United States and victims of the fraud scheme.
