Mexico Extradites Four

The Mexican government has recently extradited four men, one to Colombia and three to the United States.  The Colombian, Jhon Jairo Marin Castaneda, had been sentenced to eleven years in prison for bringing USD $21,000 into Mexico without declaring its origin.  Upon questioning, it was determined that he was also using a fake passport.

Javier Munoz was extradited to the U.S. after being convicted of selling over 500 grams of cocaine in 2005.  Ezequiel Moreno was extradited to the District Court in Dallas, Texas to face charges for sexual assault.  The third man, Leonardo Torres, was extradited to California for premeditated homicide.

The Mexican government, under pressure to contain its growing drug violence, has been seeking law enforcement cooperation with neighboring countries.  Staying on good terms with Colombia and the United States, two key plays in the war on drugs, is essential for a continued campaign against the drug cartels.
