Abstract:
On August 14, 1991, the United States Department of State issued a travel advisory for travelers to certain parts of Jamaica and Mexico. As a result of the advisory, the Jamaican Government announced action to remedy the alleged problems. The sequence of events illustrates the effort of the U.S. to protect its citizens and residents who travel abroad and also the sensitivity of countries with important tourist sectors to protecting tourists against criminal activities.
