On December 14, 2000, in a press conference in Washington, D.C. the U.S. Government announced the arrest of over fifty individuals in ten cities as the result of “Operation Impunity II,” a national investigation targeting cocaine and marijuana trafficking between Mexico and the U.S. Appearing at the press conference were Attorney General Janet Reno, DEA Administrator Donnie Marshall, U.S. Customs Service Commissioner Raymond Kelly, and FBI Director Louis Freeh.
